'Indiana Jones 5' producer Frank Marshall revealed that they still have not found the film's MacGuffin. Leading man Harrison Ford is reported to be recuperating well after his plane crash but not remembering the moments before the incident.

An article by Collider revealed that development on the newest installment in the 'Indiana Jones' franchise remained inactive. Famed producer Frank Marshall who is known for previous work on 'Jurassic World', 'The Bourne Legacy', 'The Last Airbender', 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' and the 'Indiana Jones' cinematic releases talked about how the fifth film may or may not be happening any time soon.

He said, "I say, for me, [Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is] the last hurrah. I know that yes, we talk about it, but there's no idea, there's no MacGuffin." Director George Lucas also revealed in a previous interview that there had been talks with Steven Spielberg about the future of the film but they still haven't found a real story line for it.

A MacGuffin is a plot device - an object, location or specific character - used as a trigger for a film's storyline. Previous 'Indiana Jones' MacGuffins include the Ark of the Covenant, the Sankara stones, crystal skulls and the Holy Grail. These typically appear in adventure or thriller films. Having no confirmed MacGuffin for 'Indiana Jones 5' may mean a longer wait for many fans of the series even though leading man Harrison Ford is said to make an appearance in the film.

According to Reuters, the 72-year old pop icon and cult movie veteran not seem to recall his final moments before his vintage plane crash-landed Venice's Penmar Golf Course just moments after take-off from Santa Monica Airport last March 5.

A newly released report by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) blamed the accident on a faulty carburetor, which was installed during the restoration of Ford's single-engine World War II-era craft in 1998.

The report published in the Los Angeles Times read, "(The pilot) stated that he did not attempt an engine restart but maintained an airspeed of 85 mph (137 kph) and initiated a left turn back toward the airport; however during the approach he realized that the airplane was unable to reach the runway... The pilot did not recall anything further about the accident sequence."

In another article by Entertainment Weekly, the actor realized his plane malfunctioning after take-off since he requested to turn back to the airport immediately. Ford procured a broken pelvis, a broken ankle and severe head trauma after his crash and spent the next couple of months recuperating at home.

He made his first public appearance on stage at the San Diego Comic Con despite noticeable limping reassuring the audience that everything is alright. He is set to return as Han Solo in the upcoming 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' set to be released on December 18, 2015.

'Indiana Jones 5' will be fifth film in George Lucas' successful action-adventure franchise. Its predecessor 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' was received with generally positive reviews from critics despite its lukewarm success with fans around the world. It did, however, gain massive box office earnings amounting to $786 million, according to Box Office Mojo.
