Sprint is exuding in excitement preparing for Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge for Samsung Pay's debut on its versions of the devices in the U.S.
Sprint, being one of the major mobile carriers in the U.S., is working in the lab their versions of Samsung's 2015 flagship smartphones, updating their software. Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will be updated for the upcoming debut of the cardless mobile payment system in the U.S on September 28.
Like Sprint, other major mobile carriers are also preparing their versions of the devices for the same software update. Meanwhile, Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ are already Samsung Pay-ready when it came out of the box earlier this month.
Along with Samsung Pay, Sprint will also be adding the live Youtube stream feature which was already introduced to Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+. Support for HQ audio with Samsung headsets and a few other tweaks and fixes will also be available.
Whenever the update is made, the Galaxy S6 will have software version G920PVPU2BOH1 and Galaxy S6 Edge G925PVPU2BOH1. Presently, the update is already rolling out but Sprint is still waiting for its devices to be hit.
If prompted that the update is already available, just follow onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
Samsung Pay is said to be cooler than Apple Pay and other mobile payment services because it caters both near-field communication (NFC) and magnetic secure transmission (MST) technology. Apple's and Google's versions only use NFC.
With this in mind, Samsung Pay will be used to a ton of older devices so long as the POS accepts magnetic card. To use this payment service of Samsung, you can swipe up from the bottom of your device's screen of from any screen, even it is turned off.
Samsung Pay logo will pop up and will be ready to accept payments. By swiping left or right, cards will be switching and choose desired card. To authorize payment, a registered finger shall be placed on the biometric scanner. A digital copy of your receipt will be sent to you afterwards.
Samsung Pay was first made available in South Korea last August 20.
