20th Century Fox has recently launched a new still from the upcoming "Deadpool" featuring the infamous 'Merc with a Mouth' going airborne in pursuit of what seems to be his enemy. Marvel's new superhero flick is scheduled to open in theaters February next year.
Following the release of the first official trailer for the newest anti-hero film, 20th Century Fox released a high resolution still of Deadpool's iconic mid-air stunt. Movie Web reports that the photo features the titular anti-hero soaring through the air as he dispatches three bad guys in a single shot -a frame which was also featured in the video teaser that the studio released a few weeks ago.
The film is based on Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero "Deadpool" which was created by Rob Liefeld. It follows the story of Wade Wilson, a former Special Forces operative turned mercenary who gains accelerated healing capabilities after being experimented. Armed with his new skills and a dark, twisted sense of humor, he adopts the alterego "Deadpool" and tracks down the man who nearly ruined his life.
iDigitalTimes reports that Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as Wade Wilson, a.k.a The Merc With A Mouth, which he first played in the 2009 superhero film "X-Men Origins: Wolverine". Joining him are Morena Baccarin ("Gotham") as Vanessa Carlyle, a.k.a. Copycat, Gina Carano ("Fast & Furious 6") as Angel Dust, Ed Skrein ("The Transporter: Refueled") as Ajax, T.J. Miller ("Transformers: Age of Extinction") as Weasel and Brianna Hildebrand ("Prism") as Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
"Deadpool" was one of the big hits at the San Diego Comic-Con last month, setting the superhero movie to possibly become one of 2016's first big blockbusters at the box office. Tim Miller is currently directing the movie based on the screenplay penned by "Zombieland" writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Confirmed to be Rated R, Deadpool is scheduled to hit the big screen on February 12, 2016.
