"Suicide Squad" has finally wrapped production in Toronto this past weekend. To celebrate the occasion, stars Margot Robbie and Jai Courtney helped a young Toronto girl raise money for his brother's sickness before going to the film's wrap party. DC's anti-hero movie is slated to open in cinemas next summer.
While the cast of "X-Men: Apocalypse" celebrated with an full supply of red bull in Montreal and the cast of "Captain America: Civil War" partied at a Leipzig bar, the Toronto-based cast of "Suicide Squad" indulged in an altruistic one. Margot Robbie and Jai Courtney reportedly made a charitable pit stop to the lemonade stand of the six-year old Na'Ama Uzan before going to the film's wrap party.
According to CTV News, Na'Ama opened the stand a year ago to raise money for the medication of his seven-year-old brother who was diagnosed with Angelman syndrome. This neurological illness is due to genetic malformations and causes difficulties for the patient to walk and talk. "I heard about Na'ama's story and what she's doing for her brother Nadav," Courtney told CTV Toronto while visiting the lemonade stand. "There's no act too small when you're talking about making a difference."
Robbie commended the young girl's kindness, comparing it to her personal experience where the profit was only spent on 'lollies'. "I'm glad she's doing something far more noble with the cause," she said. As per Cinema Blend, Na'Ama has raised more than $64,000 for the foundation, which has helped put several clinical trials for the disease in place. She eve has a research chair dedicated in her name to finding a cure for Angelman syndrome.
Robbie and Courtney are set to play the roles of Harley Quinn and Captain Boomerang in the upcoming film. Its stellar cast also includes Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El DIablo, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, as well as Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, Raymond Olubowale, Alex Meraz and Jim Parrack.
Directed by David Ayer, "Suicide Squad" opens August 5, 2016.
