‘The Martian’ Update: Neil deGrasse Tyson Discusses The Ares 3 Mission, Its Crew On New Promotional Video

To stir the fans' excitement for "The Martian", 20th Century Fox launched an impressive promotional video that features Neil deGrasse Tyson discussing the Ares 3 mission and its crew. The Matt Damon-led film is slated to open in cinemas on October 2.

Ever since the first trailer of "The Martian" was released, many were already sold on the movie. Now with roughly a month left before its big screen debut, 20th Century Fox continues to endorse the film with another cool promotional video. This time it features the popular astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson discussing Ares 3, the mission at the heart of the upcoming film. BGR reports that the 56-year-old space expert examined the first manned mission to Mars which took place in 2029. DeGrasse Tyson's hair is noted to be grayer than the usual, suggesting that he is supposedly talking to us from the year 2035.

The guerilla marketing clip sees him introducing Hermes, the space station orbiting around the earth, as well as the crew on board. As featured in the video, the members of the Ares 3 mission includes Matt Damon ("Elysium"), Kate Mara ("Fantastic Four"), Jessica Chastain ("Crimson Peak"), Michael Peña ("Ant-Man"), Aksel Hennie ("Hercules"), Sebastian Stan ("Captain America: The Winter Soldier"). Though not featured in the newly released footage, "The Martian" also stars Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Donald Glover.

According to the film's synopsis, the movie centers on Astronaut Mark Witney (Damon) and his struggle for survival in the red planet after he was presumed dead and was left behind by his crew. Millions of miles away, NASA and numerous scientists strive hard to bring Watney back, while his crewmates concurrently plans a heroic rescue mission. Based on Andy Weir's best-selling novel, the movie is helmed by sci-fi director Ridley Scott.

"The Martian" is expected to open in theaters on October 2.
