'Five Nights At Freddy's' film is currently in development under Warner Bros. Pictures and the studio seeks for a PG-13 rating. Director Gil Kenan teased more character photos and set pieces on his visit from Jim Henson's Creature Shop.
According to Screen Rant, Warner Bros. tapped director Gil Kenan to helm their new videogame adaptation. It was reported that the studio is aiming for a PG-13 rating, the same with the British-Israeli-American filmmaker's film, 'Poltergeist'. It may not portray too much gore and will focus more on jump scare tactics also experienced in the games.
The upcoming film may take place in a pizzeria called Freddy Fazbear's Pizza sprawling with murderous animatronics that come to life after hours and murder every night watchman who comes in to oversee the place, according to Paste Magazine. The four-part videogame series by breakout creator Scott Cawthon features 12 animal villains including the titular Freddy Fazbear, Chica, Bonnie, Foxy and several variations of each. It is unclear which ones Kenan will utilize in the film.
In another article by DesignNTrend.com, the 'Monster House' director posted photos in his social media accounts of set pieces allegedly taken from his trips to the famous Jim Henson's Creature Shop. He reportedly wanted to create real animatronics in place of CGI effects in order to bring his characters to life in a more realistic way. It remains unconfirmed whether the pieces photographed were his actual designs for 'Five Night's At Freddy's' or merely used as research.
'Five Nights At Freddy's' is an upcoming horror-comedy film based on the popular point-and-click survival game of the same name famous for its homicidal animatronic animals and simplistic gameplay. The first three games in the series are set in a pizzeria while the last one takes place in a house - specifically a child's bedroom. The series have been praised by critics as a fresh take of the horror gaming genre.
