The "Goosebumps" movie, based on the 90's young adult horror book series of the same title, has released its trailer internationally featuring Jack Black. The 46 year old comedy star Black plays as the fictional character of the author of the Goosbumps series R.L. Stine himself.
The trailer shows a mysterious Black saying: "Every story ever told can be broken down into three parts. The beginning, the middle... and the twist."
What shown next in the "Goosebumps" trailer is the upset teen Zach Cooper played by actor Dylan Minnette who has played Kenny in the American version of "Let Me In" and Donnie Gil, aka Blizzard, on "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." He is the new-to-the-neighborhood in a small town. He moves from the big city next door to Stine and his beautiful daughter Hannah played by Odeya Rush, known for playing Fiona in Phillip Noyce's adaptation of "The Giver." When Zach and his nerdy pal Champ, played by Ryan Lee, sneak into Stine's creepy house, they stumble upon his original manuscripts and magically unleash the book baddies.
Then the reclusive author screamed: "All the monsters I've ever created are locked inside these books!"
It turned out that the author Stine is a prisoner of his own imaginative mind and all the monsters he created in his writing are all real. He is protecting his readers by locking up the monsters inside the pages of the Goosebumps books. As Zach accidentally let loose the monsters, the town suddenly becomes in danger. In order to prevent the catastrophe that the monsters are about to create, Stine, his daughter Hannah and Cooper head on to an adventure to tether back the horror creatures and restore order.
The trailer showcases the monsters in the first stories of the original book series which book fans will identify. There was a Yeti who ravages Stine's library; zombies and garden gnomes paraded on the town square; a gargantuan praying mantis runs after the kids' car like something from"Jurassic Park." There was also a werewolf, the invisible boy and the fan favorite Slappy the Dummy.
Goosebumps is directed by Monsters vs. Aliens' Rob Letterman. The movie co-stars Ryan Lee and Amy Ryan as Zach's friend and mother. Cast also includes Halston Sage, Jillian Bell and Ken Marino. The movie is slated for an October 16 release.
