The new "Macbeth" trailer showed the rise of Michael Fassbender, along with his leading lady Marion Cotillard, to the throne as the Scottish lord through blood, action, carnage, and grit-all promising that the movie is all but bright.

"All hail, Macbeth, thou shalt be king hereafter!" were the words that echoed in the trailer released by the Weinstein Company last Tuesday, according to Variety.

Slashfilm also reported the movie adaptation of Shakespeare's classic tragedy was well-received by critics when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, director Justin Kurzel explained how "Macbeth" is considered to be a Western film, in a sense.

"To me, it's a Western. We shot it all outside. We were able to explore the madness in these brutal and unforgiving and beautiful landscapes, such as in Scotland," he said. He also said that the simplicity of the storytelling molded with the setting "effortlessly."

The 40-year-old helmer added, "the idea of Macbeth being a product of that and having to carry what it means to be a warrior and the things that he'd seen and the things that he'd done - there's something very interesting in terms of the post-trauma that's connected to that."

Kurzel also explained how the play was connected to his life, wherein his wife played Lady Macbeth with him as a designer before. The play's themes also echo on his work as he has been focusing on making dark films for the past couple of years.

Paddy Considine, Sean Harris, David Thewlis and Jack Reynor will also star in the film. The frontrunners of the team will also take the lead of the videogame adaptation "Assassin's Creed," wherein Fassbender and Cotillard will also star under the direction of Kurzel, and scribed by "Macbeth" co-writer Michael Lesslie.

"It's a really fascinating and interesting project, and we wanted to work together again," Kurzel said when asked about the "Assassin's Creed" project.

The critically-acclaimed movie adaptation of "Macbeth"starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard will rise to power in the big screen on December 4.
