'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' recently finished filming in Australia and is reportedly moving forward for intensive post-production in time for the cinematic debut in 2017. The sequel's plot is speculated to put focus on Brenton Thwaites as Davy Jones' son who attempts to reconnect with his father.
According to Den of Geek, the cast and crew of the fifth installment in Disney's swashbuckler franchise finally concluded is reported to have a fair amount of post-production well ahead of its scheduled release date for 2017. It was confirmed recently that principal photography in Australia was completed at the end of July. Co-director Joachim Ronning also posted a photograph of himself on location during the final day of shooting.
The newest film in the franchise will tell the story of Captain Jack Sparrow's quest to find a mythical and powerful artifact, the Trident of Poseidon. According to Movie News Guide, the Trident will help in his fight against ghost pirates led by an old foe Captain Salazar, portrayed by Javier Bardem. Several of the original cast will reprise their role in the upcoming film including Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, Geoffrey Rush as Hector Barbossa and Orlando Bloom as Will Turner.
Bardem will not be the only franchise newcomer to grace the big screens in 2017. Young actress Kaya Scodelario is playing Carina Smyth while Brenton Thwaithes is cast as Henry. Henry is said to be the son of Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, according to Movie Pilot.
In the preceding film 'At World's End', Will becomes the new Davy Jones, immortal master of the ghostly ship The Flying Dutchman, and is bound to his new duty as mediator of spirits in the Netherworld.
The new film is speculated to follow Henry's story as well as Jack Sparrow's as he tries to reconnect with his father. Thwaites said in an interview, "It's about a young man who wants to reconnect with his father, Davy Jones. There's a curse that prevents him from doing that. I think it's about how he goes around that and tries to fix it and he has to save his dad."
'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' is the fifth installment in the commercially and critically successful Disney franchise scheduled to debut in cinemas on July 7, 2017. It is directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg with Jerry Bruckheimer returning as one of the producers.
