The second installment for the Maze Runner franchise "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials," will hit the theaters on September 18. However, director Wes Ball is by now talking about the storyline and what fans can expect on the third and final movie of the Maze Runner series, "The Maze Runner: Death Cure."
In an interview, Ball shared some important information about the production of the final film for the trilogy based on James Dashner's Maze Runner series. He said that "Maze Runner: The Death Cure" will be bigger than the first two movies because of something that has occurred off-screen.
A 30 minute preview for "The Scorch Trials" was shown at Comic-Con and it gave the viewers an idea that the film continues from where it has concluded. Thomas and the surviving Gladers are out of the Maze and being sent to safety in a helicopter. Then at the start of the second film, they are leaping off that same helicopter and running hastily.
"This next one will be cool because we're gonna cut maybe a year later. Yeah, so it'll be cool." Ball confirmed that at the third and final installment, the story will jump a year after the conclusion of the second film. He noted that he has incorporated elements from the third book to the current movie. Thus, the film will leave from its foundation to adapt the one-year gap storyline. Ball has proved that he knows exactly what he is doing for the film and this move will doubtless do justice to the whole franchise.
Ball also revealed that "The Death Cure" is already on the works but filming will start in February next year. He guarantees that it will stand out from the rest of the trilogy. He stated: "It's gonna be a different kind of an engine, a different kind of genre almost and a different sort of color palette and terrain. It's gonna be cool. It's gonna be very, very cool I think."
"Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" arrives on September 18. The third and final film of the series, "Maze Runner: The Death Cure," will hit theaters on February 17, 2017.
