'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Update: Kylo Ren mask released gives clue on his character

Disney teased "Star Wars" fans with the release of new merchandise, particularly toys, on the wake of the premiere of "The Force Awakens" this December. In fact, the studio even gave them a peek of what is in store for the mysterious character of Kylo Ren.

In Japan, Disney unveiled a segment showcasing three giant JAKKS figures with a 31-inch First Order Stormtrooper, a 48-inch talking First Order Stormtrooper, and a 31-inch Kylo Ren, reported IGN.

The highlight among the three was Ren's because of the mystery surrounding his appearance, particularly his helmet because of its similarities to Darth Vader's own helm.

"You can see his helmet, the helmet is in... from what we've been reading online, especially on the website and in interviews, it's possible he modelled it after Darth Vader," the host in the event said. "Because that's someone he was really, really into and had an affection towards. But we'll have to see in the movies."

Aside from Kylo Ren's helmet to be available on sale, Disney also released a squadron of merchandise. There is also an action figure of Rey with her pal BB-8 for those who are more into the light side of the force.

USA Today also reported that there is also a Finn pilot jacket, with patches showing allegiance to the Resistance, for kids who want to dress up. Lego also has Rey's Speeder available.

For the classic die-hards, there is also the release of the Millennium Falcon with a Hasbro "Battle Action" version with lights, sound effects, a pop-up blaster.

Industry analysts at Piper Jaffrey told NBC News that there are approximately $3 billion worth of "Star Wars" merchandise to be sold this year. And after its movie premiere in December 18, the sales could massively grow next year.

Even without movie releases, Disney was reportedly able to earn around $2 billion of annual sales worldwide.

With the expected success of the release of its merchandise, including banking on the craze on Kylo Ren's character, Disney's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" continues to be a force to reckon with. Fans can grab the mentioned toys, costumes, action figures, and other collector's items in authorized Disney outlets.
