According to Twin Finite, the game itself may seem like another rather simplistic and shallow jump-scare point-and-shoot survival video game. However, it was suggested that there is a horrifying lore behind its murderous characters. The stories interwoven within the video games are interconnected somehow and it is possible that Gil Kenan would use its cryptic appeal for his upcoming live-action adaptation.
In another article by Kotaku, Kenan revealed on his Twitter account that his new horror film will seek to explore another side of the games' story but will remain faithful to creator Scott Cawthon's original lore. He didn't go on to provide further details except that 'Five Nights At Freddy's' will be set in more than one location. The games have provided two settings: the first three releases are set in a gloomy pizzeria called Freddy Fazbear's Pizza while the last is set in a child's bedroom.
The film adaptation may be taking cues on the games but the real story behind all four in the series remains hidden from Cawthon's avid followers despite clues within each one, according to Forbes.com. The game's designer and creator said that although people have been able to piece together what was happening in the first releases, the fourth continues to perplex fans. He admitted, "But then I released part 4, and somehow.... no one, not a single person, found the pieces. The story remains completely hidden. I guess most people assumed that I filled the game with random easter eggs this time. I didn't."
'Five Nights At Freddy's' is an upcoming horror film by Warner Bros. Pictures based on the popular independent game of the same name. The series is notorious for homicidal animatronic animals and simplistic gameplay yet earned generally positive reviews from gaming outlets.
