Even after its theatrical release, fans still have the chance to watch Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F again but this time in the comfort of their own homes. The film was confirmed to be a block buster and had an extended release in the United States.
As reported by Comingsoon.net, the film will be released in Digital HD and Blu-ray in October 9. It will also be available in DVD form in October 20. The film's Collector's Edition will also be made available and will include premium packaging, and four holographic Frieza Force propaganda postcards.
Aside from that, the Collector's Edition also includes 50 minutes of additional content which includes 'The Voices of Dragon Ball Z' and 'The Return of Dragon Ball Z'. According to IGN, the Collector's Edition will cost $60, while Blu-ray and DVD Combo will cost $35, and the standard DVD will cost $30. A Shernon dragon shirt is also available for $10.
Meanwhile, according to a report by Deadline, the film made $8.4 million in the box office. FUNimation, who released and distributed the film in the US also reportedly allowed the film to be released even after the intended August 4 to 12 dates. The movie screening was extended until the week after, being shown once a day, or twice a day, in selected areas.
The film is the 20th film in the franchise and focused on Frieza who was reincarnated years after his stay in hell. With the help of the Dragonballs, two of Frieza's henchmen were able to resurrect him, which granted him another chance to exact his revenge against Goku and Vegeta. Frieza was able to transform to his ultimate form, which also caused the Z-fighters to reach their highest limit.
Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F cast included Sean Schemmel as Goku, Christopher R. Sabat as Vegeta/Piccolo, Chris Ayres as Frieza, and Kyle Hebert as Gohan. It was directed by Tadayoshi Yamamuro from the screenplay by series creator, Akira Toriyama.
