After its box office success, World War Z 2 is under way and Brad Pitt is expected to reprise his role as the UN Agent, Gerry Lane. The film's writer, Steven Knight, also revealed recently that a draft for the film has been turned in.

As reported by Australia Network News, a sequel to the hit 2013 film is currently in the works. Brad Pitt is expected to return in the lead role, as well as produce the upcoming film. The previous movie acquired doubts from many due to the long development process and the reported necessary re-writing of the film's third act, which also subsequently resulted for its re-shoot. The first film grossed a whooping $540 million in the box office.

Meanwhile, recent reports show progress in the movie's production as Screen Rant reported that Oscar-nominated writer Steven Knight has finally turned in the film's first draft. Although Knight did not reveal details for the plot, the renowned writer shared the aspects of the first film that he liked the most, which could also give fans a hint of what to expect in the upcoming film.

"I think the beauty of the first film was the way that it never paused for breath. It never spent a moment thinking, 'Hang on a minute, we'd better tell the audience what this is all about.' It stayed in the moment, it stayed with that person", Knight said.

Basing from Knights statement, Collider reported that Knight might keep the film focused on the single POV, just like in the first film. However, it is worth noting that no official details have been revealed yet regarding the film's plot, and current speculations surrounding the film are fan-based.

World War Z 2 will be directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, and to be produced by David Ellison, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner. More details are expected to be revealed in the coming months as production progresses.
