DC's greatest villains are teaming up in the upcoming film 'Suicide Squad'. Although filming has officially concluded, stunt doubles were spotted filming a Joker, Batman, and Harley Quinn scene. One of the creators of animated Harley Quinn, Paul Dini, also revealed his thoughts about the character as portrayed in the upcoming film.
Filming has recently concluded with a video of cast members Jai Courtney and Margot Robbie released to the Internet where they helped a little girl in her lemonade stand on their way to the film's wrap-up party.
The film is almost ready for post-production, and according to Comicbook.com, are in the process of adding final touches to some scenes, as stunt doubles of Joker, Batman, and Harley Quinn were spotted filming the car sequence. No actors were reportedly on set as Margot Robbie and Jared Leto already left Toronto during the time the video was taken.
Aside from the darker take of the story including the humanized villains, one of the intriguing parts of the film is mostly on the characters' back stories, including that of Harley Quinn. As reported by Movie Pilot, a short snippet from the trailer includes a scene where Harley's former self, Dr. Harleen Quinzel, with her blonde hair and glasses strapped on a table with a tie on her mouth.
One of the leaked set photos suggested Harley's transformation might have something to do with the ACE Chemicals company, which reportedly hints it could resemble one of the reboots of her origin where she was pushed by the Joker to one of the chemical acids which resulted to changes in her hair, skin and attitude.
More than two decades ago, Harley was introduced by her creators Paul Dini and Bruce Timm in the Batman: Animated Series. According to another report from Comicbook.com, Paul Dini revealed his thoughts about the character's appearance in the movie, as well as Margot Robbie's performance as Harley Quinn.
"I know it's jarring to a lot of the people who love the classic Bruce Timm suit, I love it myself. But in that world [of the Suicide Squad movie], I just don't see it happening", Dini said. "It's a rougher, more street look. I think it works fine."
Dini also added that he's excited to see DCMU's take on Harley in the upcoming film. "I think Margot [Robbie] is very nice, she's a very wonderful actress, certainly very attractive and very talented", said Dini about Robbie. "I'm very excited to see that interpretation of Harley", he added.
David Ayer is the director of Suicide Squad which also stars Will Smith, Cara Delevingne, Karen Fukuhara, Ben Affleck, Joel Kinnaman, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Viola Davis, and Jay Hernandez. It is set to hit theaters in August 05, 2016.
