A new and darker tone could be adapted into the Big Hero 6 sequel making it different from the previous film. An announcement was also done during the D23 Expo that the world of Big Hero 6 will be featured in the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3.
After Stan Lee's statement about another Big Hero movie being part of movies to be produced, official announcements and details about the sequel have been scarce. However, new leaks have been released suggesting that the sequel could be darker than the first film.
As indicated in previous report, Bandai has released a new line of toys called "Big Hero Stealth Team" which has a different and darker tone. The toys were repainted to darker colors and changed the lively colors of yellow and red into Black and grey.
Also, according to Master Herald, a rumor circulated about the characters facing darker versions of themselves and having to deal with them in different ways. Reports of Tadashi's return have also made their rounds indicating that he could return as Sunfire, a villain that will go against Hiro and friends. It is also worth noting that in the previous film, Baymax kept on reiterating to Hiro that "Tadashi's here".
However, as the waiting game for new updates continue, fans can relive the moments from the previous film through the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3 where it was revealed in D23 Expo, that the world of Big Hero 6 will be featured.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Sora will journey to San Fransokyo in the latest game which will be set after the events of the first movie. As noted by Walt Disney Animation Studios Producer Roy Conli, both the film and game have significant matching themes of friendship, and light over darkness. Conli also added that fans can expect Baymax to appear in the game.
Details about the upcoming Big Hero 6 sequel are scarce, however, more official announcements are expected to be revealed when production moves forward. The upcoming film is believed to be released in 2017, or some time in 2018.
