"EVERSPACE" has now reached $400,000 in funding in Kickstarter with 9,500 backers. Its initial goal of $225,000 surprisingly rose up when Chris Roberts made a shout out on the RSI forum. Rockfish Games is now gearing toward the second and stretch goals of the game.
The game was first introduced during Gamescom. They hit their funding goal of $225,000 nine days before the campaign ends. But shortly after this feat, "an armada of Star citizens came over to back 'EVERSPACE'; after Roberts did a fantastic shout out on his forum," mentioned in Rockfish Games' Kickstarter page. This happened just 48 hours after they had hit their funding goal.
Roberts is an accomplished video game designer, programmer, film producer, movie director, and CEO of Cloud Imperium Games. He was best known for his Wing Commander series and is now working on the crowdfunded simulator series Star Citizen.
They were suddenly flooded with over 2,000 additional backers from the space games community, according to a press release which appeared in Gamasutra. "EVERSPACE"'s first goal to support Mac and Linux had been unlocked as well. And with that huge spike and help from Roberts, they are now preparing to unlock the second stretch goal. Included in the next stretch oal are items and consumables of ancient alien race, as well as additional languages: ES (Spanish), FR (French), IT (Italian), PL (Polish), and PT (Portuguese). EN (English), DE (Deutsch/German), and RU (Russian) will be available upon the game's release.
According to Develop, almost 9,000 backers got excited about "EVERSPACE"'s advanced graphics in its pre-alpha version mixed with rogue-like elements and a well-developed story line. This made the arcade-style space shooter to achieve $400,000 in funding; and had made the space game the most ever funded German game in Kickstarter.
Players and fans only have two more days to support "EVERSPACE" in the crowdfunding platform. Rockfish Games is hopeful that another stretch goal would be unlocked when the campaign wraps up on September 11. Backers were also asked to help name and design game content such as log book entries, equipment, corporations, factions, supporting and main characters, or an epic space relic.
According to WCCF Tech, "EVERSPACE" has given one simple task for players to do in the game, that is, they should reach their rightful destinations. But with each attempt, another challenge or obstacle must be conquered. Rockfish Games used the Unreal Engine 4 to create that rare and exquisite visuals. The developer also took advantage of Nvidia PhysX to produce impressive effects.
Critics and players alike are not short to say that "EVERSPACE" is an impressive and promising game. And Rockfish does not want to disappoint their would-be players, as the developer partnered with the talented adventure games writer Falko Loffler to push for a more engaging plot that would be sensible enough every time a player is reborn.
There are many games which sought Kickstarter's help to develop their dream game into a reality. "EVERSPACE" is another evidence that with a well-written story coupled with stunning visuals which used advanced software or technology, people will support or back up a potentially good and quality game. "EVERSPACE" is planned to be released in October 2016. Its beta will be available in Q2 of 2016.
