'Final Fantasy IX: Worlds Apart' Arrangement Album from OC ReMix Out Now; Features 58 Tracks in 4-Disk Album

By

The "Final Fantasy IX: Worlds Apart" arrangement album is now out. This is the fifth full "Final Fantasy" arrangement album released under the OverClocked Remix label. The album was inspired by Nobuo Uematsu's original soundtrack for "Final Fantasy IX" which was launched for Playstation in 2000.

There are 58 tracks from 57 artist-musicians in the 4-disk album which spans the entire soundtrack of "Final Fantasy IX" originally composed by Uematsu, according to OSV. A large cast of new and old artists participated in the album and was directed by Cain McCormack.

The album took 5 years to be completed and originally had over 120 tracks spanning different motifs. "There are so many variations that we actually had to limit the number of versions of similar themes," according to McCormack in his statement which appeared in OC ReMix's website for "Final Fantasy IX". He added, Uematsu had repeatedly said in his interviews that the "Final Fantasy IX" was his favorite in the series, and with the number of tracks and depth on display, it was obvious that the composer got too carried away. While others may argue that this album may be his best, McCormack thinks it was the most cohesive in the series.

This "Worlds Apart" album, honoring Uematsu's largest soundtrack in the "Final Fantasy" series, included musicians from different genres and was arranged in a number of styles, such as folk, gypsy jazz, bossa nova, acid jazz, pop, metal, EDM, chiptune, among others, according to OCRemix in their official press release. The label stressed that the "Worlds Apart" album was made by fans and for fans, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Square Enix.

"Final Fantasy IX" Worlds Apart album is the 53rd FREE community album of OC ReMix and their fifth arrangement for the "Final Fantasy" series. Kevin Merriman was tasked to do the album's cover artwork; while contributors from the video game art fan community Game-Art-HQ added another 19 visual art pieces to be used in the soundtrack.

The "Worlds Apart" album was released on September 9 and can be downloaded for free in the official website of OC ReMix. "Final Fantasy IX" was Uematsu's last exclusive score for the series. The Original Soundtrack first came out in 2000 and was re-released by Square Enix in 2004. Many fans are already expecting that this album will be as good, or even better, than previous album releases.
