'Wonder Woman' director Patty Jenkins all set to helm first female-fronted DC comics live-action adaptation starring Gal Gadot as the titular character Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman. The Israeli actress made it clear that she wanted her character to portray the stronger side of women.

According to Slash Film, after a long running search for director it was confirmed that Jenkins has finally signed in for the newest installation in the DC shared universe. The American filmmaker is best known for her work in previous films including 'Five', 'Monster' and 'Just Drive'. She has also contributed to the television industry with work in 'Betrayal', 'The Killing', 'Entourage' and 'Arrested Development.'

In another article by DC Comics Movie, one of the producers Deborah Snyder announced during a panel for 'See Jane Salon Power to Greenlight' that production for the female superhero fronted adaptation will begin in November. She said, "We still wanted a female director and we found Patty Jenkins, who had the right vision, the same vision that we had for the character and we're really happy that we're going to be going into production in November. It's been a really great process, we tried to hire as many females people on the crew, as possible..."

Israeli actress and fashion model Gal Gadot will take up the role of the iconic Amazonian princess-turned-modern warrior, according to Cinema Blend. She admitted that she wanted to portray a strong female character that didn't fit in the whole damsel-in-distress stereotype that most of Hollywood's leading women fell into. Not only will she be the star in the standalone film 'Wonder Woman', she is all set to take up the role further in the combined DC universe.

'Wonder Woman' is an upcoming action-adventure-fantasy film that is set to be released on June 23, 2017. It will be the first female-fronted cinematic release based on the DC comic book superhero character of the same name. It will be the fourth installment in the DC extended universe and is currently in pre-production.
