The "Divergent Series: Allegiant - Part 1 and Part 2" movies will now be renamed "The Divergent Series: Allegiant and Ascendant". But, both movies will still be based on the final novel in Veronica Roth's Divergent trilogy, "Allegiant".
The name changing revelation was taken from Veronica Roth's Tumblr. The author hinted that changes are going to happen but she did not specify the kind of changes that will be done, reasoning that it was too early for some exposures. "Well, basically, it means there are going to be some changes, but it's really too early to know exactly what those changes will be or the extent of them," she revealed.
However, she hoped that fans will still remain supportive once the changes has been made and unveiled. "I know changes always make fans of the books- and the author - nervous, but hopefully the characters we know will still be intact," Roth added, concluding that she is excited for the outcome of the movie.
According to Entertainment weekly, the films will also be having new taglines. "Break the boundaries of your world" will be Allegiant's and "the end is never what you expect" will be the promise of the Ascendant.
Though the studio did not provide the reason behind these changes, an article on Hypable insisted that this may be the strategy of Summit and Lionsgate to impede the Divergent lethargy for both years. But, they also quoted that this may not be the best news for the fans.
The newly named "Divergent: Allegiant" will be up on March 18, 2016; as Tris and Four discovers what stands outside the real world. Then the series will wrap-up on March 24, 2017, with "Divergent: Ascendant".
