Ridley Scott recently confirmed that Prometheus 2 will be his next film, however, speculations have surfaced that it may be the cause of delay for Neill Blomkamp's Alien sequel. New reports also suggest that more than one David could appear in the forthcoming film.
Scott confirmed to Empire that the sequel to his 2012 picture will be his next project. He also added that he is currently working on it and has been scouting for possible locations. "I was already on to my next movie!", Scott said. "I was starting to look for locations for my next movie, which is Prometheus 2", he added.
According to a report by IGN, a source recently assured that despite the lack of new updates, Neill Blomkamp's Alien 5 is still a go but Scott reportedly insisted on making the Prometheus sequel first. Also, as cited in the report, filming for Prometheus 2 will begin in January next year and Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender are expected to reprise their roles as Dr. Shaw and David.
Moreover, as reported by Christian Post, Michael Green is currently working on the film's storyline that features several versions of the android David and is aiming to move closer to the story of the original Alien film.
Scott previously revealed that new monsters can be expected in the upcoming film. He also explained why a lot of people are scared of aliens. "The alien's real which is why it's probably one of the scariest monsters in film history. So with Prometheus 2 what I'm trying to do is reintroduce a fresher form of alien in the third act", Scott said.
Aside from Fassbender and Rapace, cast details are pretty scarce, however, more details are expected to be revealed for Prometheus 2 in the coming months. Ridley Scott is set to direct from the screenplay written by Michael Green and Jack Paglen. Scott is also set to produce the film along with Walter Hill. It is expected to hit theaters in 2017.
