Until the fans hear a definitive no from ABC, they will not relinquish hopes for a "The Whispers" Season 2 since they are desperate to see more. It has been a fun summer run for the ABC series but they weren't really satisfied with the conclusion that felt more like a mid-season finale than what possibly was the series finale.
There has been no guarantee for a Season 2 after the last one ended with the mother of all cliffhangers that resulted to some nagging questions that probably will never be answered. Why did the aliens take the children and where are they taking them? Will Sean and Wes team up to look for Claire and Minx? The finale left the viewers with more questions than a strong conclusion for the sci-fi series.
However disappointing the season finale may have been in giving fans the closure they wanted, at least some hitherto mysteries were answered. First is that there are other Drills. An Entertainment Weekly report said that the penultimate episode proved that Drill was not alone in his mission. There was a scene where Drill was making contact to the other aliens to take the children he befriended beforehand.
For a while, it was strange that Drill seemed to be only focusing on American targets. It was made clear in the finale that the disappearances occurred all over the world. These were planned to happen simultaneously so no warning can be given to other places reports Bustle.
Fans feel that there are a lot of plot options the show can go to after last season's finale. For one, there is so much more that is not known about the characters. There are complicated backstories and unpredictable futures to be told. Getting the viewers invested on the characters can only make the show stronger.
Low ratings and the cast contracts not being renewed before they expired in late June make the prospects of "The Whispers" Season 2 look bleak according to a Zap2it report. The pilot did well enough but the ratings took quite a dip after that. The non-renewal of the contracts gave the cast options to work for other shows.
Still, fans are not losing hope for "The Whispers" Season 2 still happening. They are also hoping for Claire and the children to come back home from wherever Drill and his people took them.
