LG sent out press invitations for an October 1 event in New York City that could set the stage for the unveiling of its second flagship dual-screen LG V10. Rumors say that the LG V10 will also offer an upgraded main camera and 3GB RAM.
TechWeek Europe reported LG sending out film-themed invites suggesting that its upcoming LG V10 premium flagship will focus on film. The invitations can also be interpreted to hint to a camera upgrade in the LG V10 smartphone.
The V10 is LG's second flagship phone, following the LG G4. The device allegedly showed up at the Chinese regulator TENAA. What makes the LG V10 unique is the addition of a secondary screen which will purportedly enhance the phone's video capture quality. Some think that this move by LG is a bit "gimmicky", yet LG is open to trying out new ideas.
Above the 5.7" QHD main display will be the location of the smaller auxiliary screen, a bit to the left side. The secondary screen will display additional information once the primary screen is turned off or engaged with other purposes.
Estimated to be bigger than the G4, the LG V10 has impressive under the hood specs. It will house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808, 3GB RAM, 64GB internal memory, 16MP rear camera, 5MP selfie snapper, and a fingerprint scanner at the back.
There are possibilities that the October 1 event of LG will announce more than just the smartphone, says eWeek. In addition to the V10, there are buzzes about a new tablet computer or a new smartwatch by the Korean giant.
ITProPortal reported that LG has not earned too much from its recent line of smartphones. LG considers that the current smartphone market is an "extremely challenging environment". In fact, its LG G4 did not surpass, and did not even reach, the success of the G3. This declining trend has been apparent among the players in the OEM industry. Yet, LG continues to expand its market by partnering with Google to release the LG Nexus 5X this coming September 29.
The LG October 1 event follows after the Apple iPhone launch and Samsung's NYC event. According to a tweet by infamous tipster Evan Blass, the LG V10 will be released in mid-October.
