'Wonder Woman' may cast two major villains to fight against Gal Gadot's titular heroine. Bond girl Eva Green and 'Game of Thrones' star Sean Bean are both tagged to play antagonists for the upcoming standalone film. It was also speculated that the adaptation will explore two separate timelines including World War I.

According to IGN, Eva Green is rumored to play Circe, a powerful yet wicked sorceress and long-time adversary of Wonder Woman. The character first appeared in a 1949 issue of the DC comic books. She is known to have exceptional physical beauty, immortality, and incredible powers of sorcery.

In the comic books, Circe is known to possess the ability of animal metamorphosis to turn people into various animal forms. She can also alter reality as well as minds, teleport, turn objects into whatever form, create magical blasts and shields of protection, and knows a thing or two about necromancy.

Another Warner Bros. favorite to play a second antagonist is Sean Bean. According to Screen Crush, Bean will be portraying Ares the God of War, another Greek-inspired villain and major Wonder Woman adversary.

His character in the comic books has inconceivable superhuman strength, speed and agility coupled with telekinetic command and excellent mastery of any weapon that comes into his possession. Ares' armor is impenetrable and he draws his strength from conditions such as violence, anger, hate, death, and bloodshed. In addition to his already powerful abilities, he can also shapeshift and teleport at will.

The villain casting speculation is yet to be confirmed as of the moment. Another rumor that came up recently tackles the issue of the film's setting and location.

An article by Slash Film revealed that the newest DC installment may be set sometime in the 1920's. Other rumors suggested that the timeline may even go earlier than that - specifically in World War I. Sources hinted that the first half of the film will be set in an early time period while the second half will occur in present day.

'Wonder Woman' is an upcoming superhero film in the DC extended universe directed by Patty Jenkins and produced by Zack and Deborah Snyder, Charles Roven, and Richard Suckle. It is scheduled to be released in June 23, 2017. It will star Gal Gadot as Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman and Chris Pine as Diana's love interest, Steve Trevor.
