"Goosebumps" star Jack Black will be attending a special benefit advance screening of the said film in Knoxville. The comedian actor will have an appearance at the Regal Cinemas Pinnacle 18 in Turkey Creek on September 24.

The charity event is sponsored by the Knoxville-based Regal Entertainment Group. The proceeds from the event will benefit Variety - The Children's Charity of Eastern Tennessee. President and Chief Operating Officer of Regal Entertainment group Greg Dunn stated that Regal is honored to have Black for the benefit screening to raise money for Variety's special needs children.

Dunn complimented Black saying that the actor, musician and comedian has been a true force in the entertainment industry throughout his career. He added that they are excited to bring Black to East Tennessee.

Ken Thewes, chief marketing officer at Regal Entertainment Group is confident that there is an enormous fan base of adults and children that are excited to see the film adaptation of R.L. Stine's "Goosebumps" book series up on the big screen. According to Thewes, Regal is thrilled to bring "Goosebumps" film and star to Knoxville for the benefit screening while raising money for a great cause.

A limited number of tickets for the event will be available at Regal Cinemas Pinnacle, West Town Mall and Riviera theatres in Knoxville. Each ticket will cost $50 with proceeds benefiting Variety.

Stine's 90's young adult horror book series published by Scholastica has been adapted to film by Sony and directed by Rob Letterman. It stars Black, and teenage actors Dylan Minnette and Odeya Rush. The book series tallied more than $100 million in annual revenue for publisher Scholastic and made Stine the top-selling author in the country 20 years ago when it started in 1992.

Stine himself was surprised when asked to adapt his "Goosebumps" book series into a movie. "It came as a surprise the movie was still alive," said Stine. He said that that he has sort of forgotten about it and then he got a call from Deborah Forte who is the Scholastic film overseer and one of the movie's producers and it dawned on him. "This might actually happen," he added.

Black joins a list of other celebrities in Knoxville for charity including Will Ferrell, Cuba Gooding, Jr, Hugh Jackman, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Liam Hemsworth, and Jeff Daniels. The movie is slated for an October 16 release.
