"War of the Planet of the Apes" is a film released by 20th Century Fox set to swing into theaters on July 14, 2017. It will be produced by Chernin Entertainment and Dylan Clark with Matt Reeves and Mark Bomback teaming up once more for the film. As Woody Harrelson signed up as the main antagonist, Reeves gives bits and pieces of how mythical Caesar's role will become for both the human and the ape race.
Hollywood Reporter reports that it is still unclear as to what the plot will be and who will be returning for the "War of the Planet of the Apes." However, what is definitely clear is that Matt Reeves and Mark Bomback will be back for the third installment of the series. Andy Serkis will reprise his role as Caesar as well. Gabriel Chavarria will be brought in but reportedly will play a minor role. Playing a lead role as a main villain in the sequel is Woody Harrelson. Harrelson has somehow gained popularity once again after his performance in "True Detective" HBO series. His other projects are his supporting role in the "Hunger Games" series which will be shown on November 20. Currently, he is working on "LBJ" where he plays President Lyndon B. Johnson.
Den of Geek adds that Woody Harrelson's role is not that detailed as of the moment. But his character will be named "The Colonel" which is all that can be dug out at the moment. Director Reeves clarified that the title of the third film is "War FOR the Planet of the Apes" and not "War OF the Planet of the Apes."
/Film also says that Woody's role as "The Colonel" might be part of the military reinforcement sent to San Francisco at the end of the second sequel. Matt Reeves shares more of what will happen to Caesar in "War of the Planet of the Apes." He uses the word "epic" for this third film. Caesar will reportedly "cement his status as a seminal figure in ape history, and sort of leads to an almost biblical status. He is going to become a mythic ape figure, like Moses."
Overall, 20th Century Fox, Reeves and its producers wants the storyline for "War of the Planet of the Apes" to connect from the human perspective to the world of apes. Andy Serkis also shared his thoughts that it's going to be a very powerful film with a possibility of more than just a trilogy. Moviegoers are yet to see how Woody Harrelson's role will greatly affect the next sequel on July 14, 2017.
