'The Jungle Book' official trailer is finally out and it brings Disney's classic characters to life. The upcoming live-action remake of the 1967 animated film features the original fictional cast including Mowgli, Baloo, Bagheera, King Louie and even Shere Khan.
The teaser trailer posted by Variety shows a fast-paced montage of jungles, vast plains, wild creatures and of course the beloved character Mowgli portrayed by Neel Sethi. The stunning visuals are set against a voice-over by Scarlett Johansson who plays the powerful Indian rock python. It was reported that some exclusive film footage shown during Disney's D23 Convention in Anaheim last month was received with a standing ovation from the audience.
According to Wired, the upcoming film is not the first attempt at a live-action adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's compilation of classic tales from 1894. There is another version in the making in Warner Bros. studios entitled 'Jungle Book: Origins' and directed by Andy Serkis. This other retelling will come a year later after 'The Jungle Book' is released.
In another article by Yahoo! Movies, director Jon Favreau talked about the complex responsibility of helming a Kipling-Disney classic. He explained, "People expect action from this adventure. The original film felt so young. The musical memories we have from that film [don't] fit tonally with a film that's photo-real, where there's real danger and emotional stakes. The storylines and the mythology behind Kipling's stories are very different from the animated film. Navigating those waters is one of my toughest jobs as the director."
'The Jungle Book' is an adventure-fantasy film based on Rudyard Kipling's collection of stories and the 1967 animated movie by Disney. It tells the story and adventures of an orphan boy raised in the jungle by wolves, a bear and a panther. The adaptation helmed by 'Iron Man' director Jon Favreau will star Johansson and Sethi alongside Bill Murray as Baloo, Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Christopher Walken as King Louie, Giancarlo Esposito as Akela and Lupita Nyong'o as Raksha.
