President Barack Obama took to Twitter to personally invite 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed to the White House after the young teen was falsely arrested for bringing a homemade digital clock to school. Ahmed Mohamed was accused of building and bringing a bomb in to school grounds, despite insisting it was a digital clock, the young teen was arrested and interrogated.
In a report from Economic Times, last Monday 14-year old Ahmed Mohamed decided to take his homemade digital clock to his Texas school. After proudly finishing off his invention at home, the young teen wanted to show his teachers at school. However, after a certain teacher heard the clocks alarm, Ahmed was immediately reported to the authorities and was later on arrested for possessing a bomb.
In another report from The New York Times, the poor enthusiastic inventor was pictured scared and confused after being arrested over his clock. Ahmed, who is Muslim, was falsely accused of creating a bomb due to the appearance of the digital clock. After news got out of the incident, thousands of people poured in their anger through Twitter and Facebook.
With the story going viral, Facebook, Twitter, Google, and the American President reached out to Ahmed inviting him to various science fairs and conventions. President Barack Obama personally tweeted to the young lad, "Cool clock, Ahmed. Want to bring it to the White House? We should inspire more kids like you to like science. It's what makes America great."
Presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton also tweeted on the news stating, "Assumptions and fear don't keep us safe-they hold us back. Ahmed, stay curious and keep building."
According to E Online, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg also invited Ahmed to come visit him at Facebook, stating he'd love to meet him. The CEO also expressed his anger on how appalling the incident was in a public status on Facebook. Twitter and Google on the other hand, both tweeted Ahmad, inviting him to drop by their headquarters. Google even invited the young lad to attend and take part in an upcoming science fair, encouraging him to bring his clock.
Despite being wrongly accused and arrested, Ahmed Mohamed has spoken up on Twitter thanking everyone for the love and support, saying he's surprised anyone would care about a Muslim boy. After President Obama reached out to the young boy, Ahmed received an invitation to participate in Astronomy Night that will be hosted at the White House next month.
