'Jack Reacher 2' leading man Tom Cruise returns to reprise his role as the titular Character. Danika Yarosh and Aldis Hodge are also eyed to join the cast. Yarosh is speculated to play Cruise's daughter.
According to Comic Book.com, director Eward Zwick is set to go into production this November. Cruise is all set to reprise his role as a former military major turned wanderer. His character may be given a daughter portrayed by Yarosh for the second installment in the series.
The 16-year old actress is best known as Malina in 'Heroes Reborn'. It remains to be confirmed whether her character will indeed by Jack Reacher's child since her parentage in the novels are also unclear, according to Screen Crush. It was also reported that although Yarosh is Paramount and Skydance's top pick for the role, casting her may cause some scheduling conflict between 'Jack Reacher 2' and 'Heroes Reborn'.
The sequel will be based on Child's novel 'Never Go Back', the 18th book in the Jack Reacher series. The book's plot tells the story of Reacher heading back to the Virginia headquarters of the United States Army Military Corps. There he is confronted with a different kind of surprise.
Another article by Variety reported that Aldis Hodge of 'Straight Out of Compton' fame is currently in talks with the studios as well. Details for his role are not yet announced. The 28-year old actor received a Saturn Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in Television for his role of Alec Hardison on TNT's 'Leverage'.
'Jack Reacher 2' is a follow-up film set to be released on October 21, 2016. Its predecessor garnered generally positive reviews and grossed $218 million against a $60 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo. Edward Zwick will be writing and directing the sequel while Cruise will return as the main protagonist as well as the film's producer.
