'The View' loses two major advertisers following the panelists’ offensive comments to Miss America nurse monologue

The panel of co-hosts from the show "The View" may have acknowledged their fault about their negative comments to the nurse monologue of a 2015 Miss America pageant contestant. However, its two major advertisers have already pulled out their ads from the daytime show.

The panelists stirred up controversy along with the trending topic #NursesUnite after talking about the talent portion during the pageant where Miss Colorado Kelley Johnson spoke about being a nurse. E Online notes that Panelist Michelle Collins describe her act as "hilarious" and that the contestant "basically read her emails out loud," while co-star Joy Behar asked why she wore a doctor's stethoscope on the stage.

Behar said later on that she was unaware that Johnson was a real nurse so she thought the contestant was just wearing a costume. She admitted "It was stupid and inattentive on my part." On the other hand, Collins said that her comments "got misconstrued" and that both of them "love nurses."

The company Johnson & Johnson released a statement posted on Facebook saying that they value, appreciate, and respect the critical role nurses have in the healthcare system. "We disagree with recent comments on daytime television about the nursing profession, and we have paused our advertising accordingly." the healthcare firm added.

Meanwhile, Egg distributor Eggland's Best did the same thing by pulling its commercials during the controversy. In another article from E Online, the company showed appreciation to nurses and their role in family health. "In light of the comments about the nursing profession recently made on daytime television we will we will no longer be advertising on the show in question."

Advertisers leaving the show may not be enough for some who showed sympathy to the contestant of 2015 Miss America pageant. While some are convinced that "The View" panelists' public apology is enough to move on and forget this issue, others still believe that the show has lost its credibility by commenting without taking the time to listen first.
