Tom Hanks stars in Steven Spielberg's latest film "Bridges of Spies" that focuses on the events during the Cold War. Tom plays a lead role co-starring Mark Rylance, Amy Ryan, Sebastian Koch, Alan Alda and Scott Sheperd. The screenplay is written by Ethan Coen, Joel Coen and Matt Charman.
According to Digital Trends, the trailer of "Bridge of Spies" is quite promising because of the powerful combination of Spielberg and Hanks. The movie preview shows that the story is based on true events about the lives of Atty. James B. Donovan (Tom Hanks) and KGB spy Rudolf Abel (Mark Rylance) during the height of the Cold War. Donovan is asked to negotiate for the U.S. government in trading the captured Abel in exchange of their own American spy pilot that was captured by the Soviets. Donovan and his family is harassed and attacked by the public that does not meet eye to eye with what the government wants to happen but wants Rudolf hanged.
To add more fuel to the fire, Donovan needs to fly to East Berlin to represent the U.S. government in seeing the negotiations coming to fulfillment. Despite the high risks and clear danger just by being an American in the Iron Curtain, James doesn't waver. He aims to meet the demands on both sides at the most neutral way possible. The twist comes as a both Abel and the lawyer connects at a certain time of the negotiation.
Popoptiq reports that Spielberg's "Bridge of Spies" will be shown at the New York Film Festival. The film makes it a possible candidate for an Oscar with Tom Hanks potentially garnering a Best Actor nomination yet again.
