'Toy Story 4' was announced at the recent D23 Expo, and several details have been slowly making their way to the news. One of which is the plot of the story, which will be an adventure to bring back Bo Peep, Woody's love interest in Toy Story.
According to What Culture, 'Toy Story 4', to be directed by Josh Lasseter and Josh Cooley, will center around the love story between Woody and Bo Peep. This romantic link has been hinted in Toy Story 1 and 2 but Bo Peep was one of the toys given away, as mentioned in 'Toy Story 3'. Bo will be back for 'Toy Story 4' as Woody and Buzz head out to her.
Doubts have cast as to whether or not another installment is a good idea. Aside from what you call a perfect ending in 'Toy Story 3' which capped off the Toy Story trilogy, Pixar has not been having so much luck with their animated sequels in comparison to their brilliant originals.
However, Disney and Pixar reassured fans and moviegoers that the story is in good hands. We Got This Covered reported that 'Toy Story 4' won't "strictly" be a sequel. While the movie follows the timeline after 'Toy Story 3', it will not be a rehash of Woody and Buzz' adventures when they were with Andy.
Now living with the younger Bonnie, this movie may feel more of a spin-off, given the "free reign given to the creative team" with the ending of Andy's arc. This plot will be influenced and initiated more by the toys than the humans.
If one thing is expected from 'Toy Story 4', it is the trademark heartwarming-heartwrenching scenes that endeared many to Toy Story. According to Movie Pilot, from Buzz Lightyear's realization, that he is actually just a toy, in Toy Story, to 'Toy Story 2's' erasure of Andy's name in Woody's boots followed by the doubts in his connection to Andy, Toy Story has this touch that is poignant and powerful.
Add to that 'Toy Story 2's' backstory of Jesse, which was a tale of abandonment and misery, and 'Toy Story 3's' scene where Woody, Buzz and everybody else were about to be incarcerated and all hope seem to be lost. Toy Story 4's search for Bo Peep and her reunion with Woody will hopefully have simple yet emotionally moving scenes.
'Toy Story 4' is set to premiere in June 16, 2017. The 4th instalment of the Toy Story franchise was announced alongside the sequels Cars 3, Incredibles 2, and Finding Dory.
