The official trailer for the upcoming film "The 5th Wave" starring Chloe Grace Moretz has been released. In the trailer, the actress is seen fighting against an alien invasion.
According to FirstShowing.net, Sony Pictures has launched an official trailer for the new sci-fi adaptation "The 5th Wave", which is based on the acclaimed young adult (YA) novel by Rick Yancey. The film is directed by J. Blakeson and stars Chloe Grace Moretz as Cassie Sullivan.
The film is about an alien invasion of Earth, and the "5th wave" basically refers to the progressive waves of their invasion. The final wave is when the aliens finally took over.
In the first wave, the aliens wiped out the power, and then wave two came as a powerful earthquake that destroyed almost every infrastructure. The third wave spread a massive epidemic across the globe. The aliens finally descended on Earth during the fourth wave. Due to their ability to inhabit human bodies, it became difficult to trust anyone. When the fifth wave was about to hit, Cassie prepared herself for the worst.
As for Mortez, Screen Crush reported that the 18-year-old American actress finally gets a YA movie as well as a potential franchise of her own. The film also includes a stereotypical YA love triangle, but perhaps there's more to it than meets the eye.
Meanwhile, Ecumenical News reported that Sony has already acquired the film rights to "The 5th Wave" trilogy. But, of course, it is yet to be known if the forthcoming film will be able to perform well at the box-office. Nevertheless, there's a possibility that Sony will continue to produce the said trilogy.
Cast members of the movie include Liev Schreiber, Maika Monroe, Nick Robinson, Maggie Siff, Maria Bello, Ron Livingston, Alex Roe & Tony Revolori.
The official trailer for "The 5th Wave" is certainly promising, as it shows teen Chloe Grace Moretz fighting against an alien invasion. But for now, people can just keep their expectations to themselves until the movie hits theaters on January 15, 2016.
