Due to the financial success of the "Jurassic World" movie, a sequel film has been announced to be under development. Colin Trevorrow, writer and director, says the next installment is inspired by the first Steven Spielberg's original film, Jurassic Park.
Trevorrow has talked to Coming Soon and revealed some details about the upcoming sequel. According to him, Jurassic World is based on a quote from Jurassic Park. He also reiterated that the sequel film has a lot of room to play out which the previous movie left to be filled out.
"The second one, Jurassic World 2, and as we were driving we tried to find, what is the foundation? 'Dinosaurs and man, separated by 65 million years of evolution have been thrown back into the mix together. How can we know what to expect?'" he said.
He said that the sequel will explore the concepts that were indicated in the first Jurassic Park. In another report, Screenrush stated that the sequel franchise movie will be about the happenings after they stop the mold and have to coincide with humanity. As it was confirmed, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will reprise their roles but it will be different from the previous film, as he promised the audiences not to see anyone running from dinosaurs in a tropical island.
An article on Empire Online, "Jurassic World" was also revealed to be a trilogy film. Along with Derek Connolly, Trevorrow's co-writer, they came up with the basic form of a potential trilogy during a road trip. The trilogy was also based on Ian Malcolm's quote in the original film about the accomplishment on the shoulders of geniuses.
Sources say that Trevorrow teased the sequel might include open-source dinosaur cloning technology. However, he won't be directing "Jurassic World 2" as he has a contract with the filmmaking of the "Star Wars: Episode IX". But, he will be writing a draft with Connolly.
Finally, he noted that Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) will mostly emerge over the trilogy. "Jurassic World 2" is scheduled for a 2018 summer release.
