‘Mechanic: Resurrection’ Update: Jason Statham’s Arthur Bishop returns to kill; Actor moving from big to small screen

'Mechanic: Resurrection' is the next film Jason Statham will be seen in. Reprising his role as Arthur Bishop, Statham's movie will serve as a sequel to the 2011 hit The Mechanic. Aside from this, Statham will star in another action thriller, Viva La Madness, which will be a TV Drama.

According to Bustle, 'Mechanic: Resurrection' will see Statham's Bishop forced to go back to being a hitman to save someone important to him. Given the task of "3 impossible assassinations", Bishop will return to being an assassin that specializes in making the killings look like accidents.

Aside from 'Mechanic: Resurrection', Statham has been cast in the TV drama Viva La Madness. It will be a sequel for the film adapted novel 'Layer Cake', and also an adaptation of its own book of the same name, both by J.J. Connolly. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Statham will co-produce alongside Steve Chasman and Conolly.

Statham will be playing the "anonymous hero" stuck in the Caribbean, and cannot go back home for he's still a wanted criminal. With his previous roles in action-thriller movies, Statham was a fit with the character's "sarcasm and humor" set in a "fast-paced environment."

Meanwhile, as 'Mechanic: Resurrection' is in the visual effects phase of the post production, Statham has taken the rest time to make his dad's wish come true. According to the Las Vegas Sun, Statham made his 76-year-old father's lifelong dream of performing on the Las Vegas Strip a reality.

Enlisting the help of his friend, Planet Hollywood founder Robert Earl, along with Caesars Entertainment Global President Tom Jenkin, the 'Mechanic: Resurrection' star managed to arrange a surprise performance for his father at theLe Cabaret at Paris Las Vegas.With an "enthusiastic crowd of friends, Caesars Entertainment execs and Hollywood lawyers and agents", Statham's father, Barry, had one hour of "winning great applause" and had VIPs dancing on the floor.

'Mechanic: Resurrection' will be released in theatre 26 August 2016. Along with Statham, Tomy Lee Jones, Jessica Alba and Michelle Yeoh are in 'Mechanic: Resurrection'. As of now, only a poster with the tag line: "They Hired Him. They Betrayed Him. They'll Pay."
