The promo for "Scandal" showing the steamy reunion of Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) has fans wondering if the show is finally giving them what they have been wishing for the past four seasons. With Fitz also serving Mellie (Bellamy Young) their divorced papers, the pair do indeed looked ready to go public with their relationship.
However, it looks like Fitz and Liv will have to keep their affair a secret a little longer as Mellie is out for revenge. Christian Today reports that the First Lady will not go down without a fight. In an interview, Bellamy Young said that although Fitz gave her the walking papers from the White House, she will still manage to get back to him. The actress says that she hopes the couple will weather the Olivia Storm one day and be happy together.
A scandal at this point will not bode well for Fitz and Mellie knows this. She has the power to cause trouble for Fitz and she will be using this to get back at him. However, Liv will never allow the president's reputation to be ruined. She will do anything to make Fitz' image untarnished even if it means hiding their relationship.
The official synopsis released for the Season 5 premiere states that Liv will receive a job proposal from the Queen of Caldonia. In one of the photos on Hypable, Fitz and the Queen were having a conversation in an elegant party. An accident that will involve the Queen and her family will happen right at the party.
Inquisitr reports that ABC has made it clear that the theme song of Season 5 is "At Last". It is the song being played in the background of the official trailer. It was likewise used as a tag line of a new poster released by ABC. Could this be the network's way of saying that things will go well for one of TV's hottest couples this season, at last?
In previous interviews, Shonda Rhimes admitted that "Scandal" will not have the longevity of Grey's Anatomy and will probably end at the same time as Fitz' stay in office. She also revealed that the relationship of Fitz and Liv is "the end game".
Witness the couple enjoy their scandalous time together this season. "Scandal" Season 5 will premiere on Thursday, Sept. 24, on ABC.
