"Teen Wolf" Season 5b is set to return on January 2016 but already, MTV has ordered additional 20 episodes for the show's Season 6. Writer and creator Jeff Davis is reportedly surprised by the development as he thought that the series will not go beyond Season 5.
A Vine Report article says that despite a slight drop in the ratings, "Teen Wolf" remains one of the most watched shows on MTV, averaging 1.5 million viewers per episode. The same article says that Davis isn't thinking about season 6 right now and clarified that he had no idea if it will be the last one for the series or not.
In an interview, Davis has mentioned that it would be great to see Dylan Sprayberry, who plays Liam Dunbar, take over as the Teen Wolf while Tyler Posey (Scott McCall in the series) moves into a role that is more like Derek Hale. According to Yibada, the statement had a lot of fans thinking that Posey was leaving his iconic role after Season 5. This prompted the actor to deny the rumors on Twitter. "Teen wolf is my baby and I would never leave," Posey shared on his Twitter account @tylergposey.
Posey and company are slated to be back for "Teen Wolf" 5b in January 2016. Theo Raeken and his own pack of resurrected chimeras will continue to cause trouble for the True Alpha werewolf Scott McCall. Davis has mentioned in an interview that the second half of Season 5 was treated like a big monster film during production. It will continue to be scary now that the Dread Doctors have succeeded in their plans for Beacon Hills according to IBTimes.
According to the showrunner, the road for Scott and his pack will be rocky since Theo was successful in pitting them against each other. It will take time for them to get past the underlying resentment they have for each other. He further declares that Season 5b will have a resurrection theme because of Scott's coming back from the dead and his mission of bringing his pack return from the dead as well.
It has been admitted that there are already plans for Scott and the other teens post graduation but nothing has been said about them yet. This can only mean that "Teen Wolf" will not be leaving anytime soon.
