The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair 2016 Release May Not Happen; Douglas Gresham Reveals Film Plot Close to Novel

By

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair is currently in the works and Douglas Gresham revealed that it will stick close to the novel. The movie is currently slated for a 2016 release, however, speculations have surfaced that it might not be released anytime soon given the production's slow progress.

Details about the upcoming film are scarce as of now, although, according to MNR, it will skip the events in The Magician's Nephew given the controversies that surround the book containing specific chapters with a lot of religious themes.

However, as Douglas Gresham previously said in a report by Narniaweb, he will "try not to make any flops" in the upcoming movie and hinted that the it will be sticking close to the novel when he admitted to being a Narnia purist.

"The problem I suppose is that I'm too much of a Narnia Purist. I see any changes as being almost being sacrilegious. So of course I have to argue with everybody else on the team and we usually come to a fine compromise somewhere along the way", Gresham revealed.

The script is still in the works, despite the hoax that previously plagued several reports that writer David Magee has finally finished. The hoax was caused by a fake Twitter page who claimed to be Magee, and posted the fallacious information. The issue was later cleared out through the franchise's official social media accounts.

The movie is currently slated for a 2016 premiere, however, as cited in the previous report, the current release date might be a little ambitious for the film given the pace of its progress in pre-production. Aside from that, the film might also take time in recasting the characters, one example of which is the character of Eustace Scrubb who in the film will play a big role in the movie, was previously played by Will Poulter who is now a grown up.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair will be the fourth installment in the franchise that earned $1.58 billion from its three previous movies. No director and actors have been attached to the movie yet, however, more details and announcements are expected to be revealed as production makes progress in the coming months.
