In the previous news, it was rumored that the "Sinister Six" film will be cancelled. However, recent reports say that Drew Goddard wants the film to be developed.
Drew Goddard, the Cabin in the Woods director, revealed to io9 that the script of "Sinister Six" was written with his main vision of easily attaching with continuity into the future of Spider-Man.
"I intentionally wanted a movie that didn't have to worry about mythology and continuity. It was important to me to make a movie that could stand on its own," he said. "So the good news is, you know, [laughs], it slots in very well to any plan anybody ever wants. We just need to let a couple years go by, I think."
According to Collider, "Sinister Six" was supposed to start the production after The Amazing Spider-Man 3. But, Sony was quite uncertain resulting to pulling out the initial plan. But since Goddard's was it to be a super-villain standalone film, the story could still be fitted to Marvel Studio and Sony's plan for any Spider-Man project.
It was reported on the Geeks of Doom that the "Sinister Six" is a spinoff of The Amazing Spider-Man films. In the article, the supposed launching of the initial "Sinister Six" plan was cancelled due to the deal between Marvel and Disney in sharing the character and granting Spider-Man to play in their sandbox.
He also mentioned that just because the title speaks of a super-villain story doesn't mean it won't feature Spider-Man in it. In fact, Goddard quoted that the "Sinister Six" will be a "giant, epic Spider-Man movie" of his dreams.
With all the doubts, Goddard is hopeful that he can revive the production for his latest project. If the "Sinister Six" will progress, audiences believe that it will be another great Goddard movie just like his other films.
