Android 6.0 Marshmallow Features, Improvements and Release Date: The Lowdown So Far

By

Google is all set to officially launch the Android 6.0 Marshmallow version on September 29. What can the fans and users expect from the newest Android version?

The new update is expected to be seen in the newest line of Nexus devices that will be launched soon. Current Android 5.1.1 Lollipop users are now anticipating when the new version of Android will be available for their devices.

Android already has a lot of features since its inception. However, there are always newer ones and improvements from the previous versions.

Increased Control Over Apps - Android 6.0 Marshmallow users will be able to control more of what an app can do on the phone. Previously, the user had to agree on the permissions the app asks before installing. On the new version of Android, users will now have the option to change permissions, according to Pocket-Lint.

Google Now on Tap - One of the highlights will be the supercharged version of Google Now. The feature will monitor what the user is currently doing on screen. Now on Tap will show relevant suggestions for the user.

USB Type C - Another anticipated feature is the Android 6.0 Marshmallow's support for the new USB-C port standard. It allows for faster rate of charging and it also has a reversible-type connector, which eliminates the need to check if it is on the right side or not. In addition, USB-C will also allow users to charge another device with their Android device, according to PC Advisor.

Fingerprint Reader Support - Some of the newer phones are now being rumored to come with fingerprint readers. The new version of Google's mobile operating system is expected to support fingerprint readers for additional security, and to complement the new Android Pay mobile payment support.

Doze - Smartphones often have very limited battery lives. Google wants to change that with the Doze feature in the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow version. Apps will be able to put into a sleep mode, according to Neurogadget.

New Design Changes - As always, there will be major user interface changes. A new Google Now Launcher is also expected.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow devices are expected to roll out next year. However, many are now waiting on the update for their current-gen devices.
