"Man of Steel 2" has no standalone film in the books at the moment. Director Zack Snyder shares his thoughts on the follow up film that fans have been clamoring about. He says that "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" is the follow up for Superman.
Master Herald shares that fans have been eyeing on the various possibilities of a "Man of Steel 2." But so far there hasn't been anything concrete that has been said about it for quite some time. Director Zack Snyder gave bits and pieces before about a possible standalone follow up film for Superman. But other than that there wasn't any other specific details given for fans to hold on to. It may have sounded that the director was interested in the thought but that was about it. But with the different superhero films in the making recently it seems there is no definite timetable when and if ever the film will become a reality.
However, just recently Zack Snyder confirmed that "Batman vs Superman" can be considered an aspiring follow up for "Man of Steel." The report reminds the fans to take a close look at how the plot will develop for the former because it might just be what the fans have been waiting for.
Io9 adds that in the past, Snyder has been saying over and over again that the "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" film is not going to be the "Man of Steel 2." Yet now he is noted saying "I think in a way 'Batman v Superman' is 'Man of Steel 2'. 'Justice League' is kind of the transcendent, knights-of-the-round-table of the story. It'd be interesting to think about what a standalone Superman movie might be." Again, it notes Snyder's interest in the possibility of a solo follow up film but is obviously not in the priority list for him and the studio.
VINEREPORT gives more about Zack Snyder saying that the upcoming superhero team up film is the "Man of Steel 2." DC and Snyder are preoccupied in making The Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Green Lantern movies from 2017 to 2020. This is an apparent build-up of the Justice League. When the director was asked about such plans he replied that everything is about the great comic book icons and the mythology that surrounds each one of them including Batman and Superman.
For fans who would want a "Man of Steel 2," it seems that they will have to check out how "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" turns out. The latter will be shown in cinemas on March 25, 2016. Hopefully the plot will turn out as Snyder has planned for it to be as a sort of follow up film for Superman.
