FX Network’s "The Strain" will cap-off its second season next Sunday, offering an intense 60-minute episode as the characters battle for the holy grail of the Strain mythology. The Guillermo del Torro-produced horror series will also take viewers into an emotional rollercoaster by putting its lead players in a jeopardizing situation.
According to the episode description released by FX via The Futon Critic, the season two finale titled “Night Train” will explore on how significant the Occido Lumen is for the remaining characters. “Setrakian and Fet battle for possession of the Occido Lumen, and gain a surprising new ally,” the network wrote. While this new ally is still a mystery, it is a good point to start for the duo who represents the heroes of the show. The arrival of an unexpected outside force can certainly work to their advantage.
There’s an ongoing theory laid out by the International Business Times in a report, alluding that it’s possible that Eldritch is the “new ally” referred to in the aforementioned description. “Setrakian already knows he'll be getting help from Mr. Quinlan (Rupert Penry-Jones), so could this unexpected character be Eldritch Palmer (Jonathan Hyde)?,” the site wrote.
To this end, fans of Quinlan have a solid scene to look forward to in the finale. On the promo released by FX through Youtube, it appears that Rupeert Penry-Jones’ character will have a gritty face-to-face with Thomas Eichorst. The promo also saw Setrakian dropping a dramatic line to Fet -- “We will get the Lumen or we die trying,” – a riveting one-liner which can only be translated into something really huge.
On Eph’s front, viewers will be compelled to watch his journey in “Night Train”. The synopsis revealed that we will see him with Nora and Zack struggling to escape from New York City which is faced in the middle of a massive attack.
"The Strain" season two capper will find the heroes battling for the Lumen while Eph struggles to bring his son Zack to safety due to the major attack in the city. The finale is titled “Night Train” and will hit the small screens next Sunday at 10PM.
