Season 4 of 'Longmire' just came out on Netflix on September 10 but fans are already anxious for a renewal announcement of the show. The fate of the series remains uncertain as there is no word from Netflix on its Season 5 renewal
'Longmire' season 4 began immediately where season 3 left off. Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) was tracking down the person who killed his wife because he was bent on avenging her death at all cost. He was also investigating the death of Deputy Branch Connally which Longmire believed to be a suicide. Eventually, he was able to solve both deaths as well as other crimes in Absaroka County in line with his duty as sheriff.
Mike's Film Talk reports that the Season 4 finale titled "What Happens on the Rez" ended the season in style. It was goose bump inducing and when the credits rolled, viewers could not help but be concerned for the life of Walt and Dr. Monahan, worried about Henry and cheered for Gab as she escapes as a "red-tailed hawk".
According to Yibada, Season 4 ended with Mathias arresting Henry Standing Bear (Lou Diamond Phillips). The complicated relationship between Sheriff Walt Longmire and Vic (Katee Sackhoff) was left in suspense. There remains still unresolved issues however such as the disappearance of Zach and Cady appeared to have sold her soul to Jacob Nighthorse. Wild card Monte is also still about.
However, the season finale could have been the perfect end to Longmire's journey. There have been hints of a fifth season and with the cliffhanger presented, it is a definite possibility. Unfortunately, Netflix has yet to make any official announcements regarding the fate of the show.
According to Cartermatt, Netflix may choose to wait before making a renewal announcement. The fourth season was only released three weeks ago and not all Netflix subscribers have had the chance to finish the season.
The same report says that Netflix does not base a show's success by ratings alone. It also looks at the buzz the show makes and its potential to bring in more subscribers. It appears that Netflix is looking into the long-term before making a decision.
