While details are presently scarce for the upcoming Iron Man 4, it is heavily speculated that the film could be released during Marvel's phase 3. New claims also suggest that its plot could be close to the story of the 'Invincible Iron Man' comic series which is expected to be out later this year.
As reported by Master Herald, nothing has been officially revealed yet pertaining to the film's plot, although various speculations are currently surrounding the film. Robert Downey Jr has also not confirmed to reprise his role as Tony Stark yet but negotiations are reportedly underway which could reportedly result to RDJ getting more than $100 million pay for the film.
Also, according to International Business Times recent claims pertaining to the film suggest that the plot of the new comic book series for the titular hero which will be entitled Invincible Iron Man could be adapted into the film hinting a possible 'relationship' between Iron Man and Spider-Man's ex, Mary Jane.
According to comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis, the two notable Marvel characters will not be strangers to each other in the comic book series, "They know each other. She used to live in Avengers Tower. But that's all I'm going to say for now because what kind of relationship they end up having is a big part of what I would like people to buy the book for", Bendis said.
The writer also added that a new territory will be explored for Mary Jane and Tony stark in the series. "What I can tell you is that it is a new territory for both Tony and Mary Jane. And that is pretty exciting to write", he added.
However, it is also worth noting that Spider-Man will be a high school student during his entry to the MCU which could also mean that if Mary Jane is to appear in the MCU, a younger version of the character is also to be expected, most probably younger than the version in the comics.
Also, Movie Pilot listed potential villains for the film namely, the Mandarin, Crimson Dynamo, Blizzard, Titanium Man, and the Living Laser. But until official announcement is released, speculations about the film must be taken with a grain of salt.
No director and release date have been officially attached to Iron Man 4 as of yet, although the nearest possible release date would be in 2019 during phase 3. More details are expected to be revealed when production makes progress.
