Apple Watch 2 Rumors: Thinner Size, Better Performance; Release Date in Mid to Late 2016?

By

Rumor has it that the second-generation Apple Watch is coming in the mid to late 2016. It will most probably feature a thinner size, better performance packed with new enhancements, as well as improved outdoor visibility.

According to a research memo released by Cowen and Company analyst Timothy Arcuri, the Apple Watch 2 is predicted to deliver improved functionality and sport a display made by the South Korean multinational electronics company, LG. While visiting a number of Apple suppliers in Asia recently, Acuri has gathered these details.

The Cowen and Company forecast calls for Apple to ship 18 million watches by the end of 2015, but at least 45 million in 2016. However, the figures for next year may be far from reality, as Acuri suggests.

On April 24, the original Apple Watch was shipped. In case the Cowen and Company's speculations be accurate, the upcoming Apple Watch might come in May, June, or even later.

The new generation Apple Watch is expected to make more room for a bigger battery. The Cupertino-based tech giant is known for sacrificing potential battery gains for thinner designs of its devices; however, it might consider the consumers demand for a wearable that can last 24 hours or more on a single charge. Since few wearable products can run more than that, the company might do this for the Apple Watch 2.

In addition, speculations on the Apple Watch 2 include a front-facing video camera for FaceTime chats and a wireless chipset that will make the watch capable of standing on its own. Also, the new Apple Watch hardware is slated to be released sometime in September next year.

Nonetheless, Apple has not confirmed anything about these predictions yet. More rumors are still coming out, until the tech giant officially announces details about the next-generation Apple Watch. Thus, stay tuned and keep up-to-date about the latest Apple Watch 2 news here.
