Blake Ross, the creator of Mozilla Firefox, has written an unofficial screenplay for “Silicon Valley”, a comedy series created by Mike Judge. Ross penned a script for the upcoming season three opener of the HBO smash, picking things up right off the bat from last season’s finale.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ross released the 31-page script on his Facebook page weeks ago, sharing that his impatience pushed him to construct the first half-hour of Silicon Valley season 3. “I couldn’t wait 8 more months for season 3 of Silicon Valley to start, so I spent the past 48 hours writing my own episode”, he said. Later previewing the timeline of the script. “It picks up where season 2 left off,” Ross continued.
While it is not a shocking move for the tech guru, one has to wonder his motivations for doing such a time-consuming task for a comedy show. Tech Crunch addressed this to Ross in a recent interview. When asked about his inspiration for doing the script, he shared “I came out to work in Silicon Valley when I was 14, so I basically came of age here and have seen some pretty ridiculous things".
The 30-year old founder of the popular browser also thought that writing an episode for the show could translate his admiration for Richard and Co. who developed an instant connection with the viewers. “I write about them in essays sometimes, but I wanted to try expressing my love and hate for this place through the awesome characters they’ve created on the show,” he enthused.
Creator Mike Judge hasn’t commented yet on Ross’ unofficial script, but if ever it receives positive notes from the showrunner, Ross is considering to continue writing for Pied Piper. “I’d love constructive feedback from fans of the show. If people are interested, I may try to write a whole season before the real season airs in April,” he shared in a report from Entertainment Weekly. The hilarious script titled “Adult Supervision” can be read online for free.
“Silicon Valley” returns with new episodes sometime in 2016.
