Jurassic World 2 is currently in the works and director Colin Trevorrow hinted that it would be different than the first film. Latest reports also suggest that characters from the previous instalments in the franchise could return to team up with the characters from Jurassic World.
A new take on the story could be explored in the upcoming film as Trevorrow recently revealed that it will be based on Sam Neill's Dr. Alan Grant's line in the original film. According to Movie News Guide, Trevorrow paraphrased Grant's line saying, "Dinosaurs and man, separated by 65 million years of evolution, have been thrown back into the mix together. How can we know what to expect?"
As reported by IGN, Trevorrow also said that the second film will be different than the 2014 flick, as it would navigate towards a larger story of building relationships with the enormous dinosaurs.
"I feel very strongly that it's not about more dinosaurs or bigger and better dinosaurs. It's about using this as a starting point for a much larger story about our relationship with these animals, and with animals in general, and the dynamic created by bringing them back to life.", Trevorrow said.
Although it has not been officially confirmed, International Business Times reported s that the cast from the previous film might return specifically, Sam Neill's Dr. Grant, Jeff Goldblum's Ian Malcolm, and Laura Dern's Ellie Sattler. There are also rumors that a collaboration might occur between Dr. Grant and Chris Pratt's Owen Grady in order to stop Dr. Henry Wu's work.
Despite the numerous theories and speculations about the Jurassic World 2, the cast and crew are tight-lipped with the official plot details. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are expected to reprise their roles while no director has been officially attached to the film yet. It is currently slated for release on June 22, 2018.
