There were speculations that Warner Bros. and DC Comics highly chose George Miller to be at the helm for "Man of Steel 2." During a promotional for "Fury Road", Miller says that he is not going to handle the sequel for reasons that only he can tell.
Screen Rant reports that the March 2016 release of "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" directed by Zack Snyder will be a narrative continuation for "Man of Steel." However, Snyder admits that it is not the "Man of Steel 2" that hoped to be. DC and Warner Bros are contemplating to have a solo sequel really intended for Superman. Speculations also came up that George Miller, the director of "Mad Max: Fury Road" is on top of the list to direct the follow-up film.
IGN confirmed that Miller himself has said it is not likely that he will be directing "Man of Steel 2." He adds that it is a fact that he had spoken with Warner Bros about being at the helm for a motion picture for the DC Comics Universe but the chances for the aforementioned fill is "highly" likely not to happen. The report adds that George expressed his interest for his next film as something diminutive and does not have any visual effects with very minimal stunts.
George Miller plainly pushes assumptions aside that he would be directing "Man of Steel 2". He is quoted saying, "There's been some of that [talk about Superman sequel] in the mix, but it's, I'd say, probably not true." according to /Film. Miller also adds that he was supposed to do a Justice League movie in '09 but "the planets didn't align" for it. He says that he has always been interested since he predominantly works in mythology and superhero movies which he states is a mythological manifestation of the Greeks and the Romans and "so it's always something I'm interested in."
With George Miller putting his thoughts in the open as not interested to direct "Man of Steel 2," clearly the solo sequel is put on hold. Fans and the media will have to wait for an official statement from Warner Bros. and DC Comics if they get to find someone qualified as well as with the unquestionable interest to take the helm for the solo sequel of Superman.
