As Google announced their newest Android Marshmallow, many smartphone manufacturers has rolled out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop as preparation. Sony's pioneer models, the Xperia C5, C5 Ultra and Huawei's Honor 6 are only a few of the devices that has received the Android 5.1.1.
According to Realty Today, the Sony Xperia C5 and Xperia C5 Ultra that are currently running on Android 5.0 Lollipop and is expected to jump directly to the 5.1.1 version through an official over-the-air (OTA) update. Meanwhile, other variants and pioneer models, in other parts of the world, have already been using the latest version via custom ROMs.
On the other hand, Android Geeks said on its report that the Huawei Honor 6 expects the official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to arrive any time now. The upgrade will be launched by small batch of users first, and if there are no major bugs reported, then Huawei will continue the Android 5.1.1 update release for all the remaining Honor 6 device handlers. Furthermore, the Lollipop 5.1 is said to be the biggest update released for the Honor 6 devices.
In addition Neurogadget cited the enhancements that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will bring to the above mentioned devices. One of the improvements is LinkedIn application integration with Contacts and Calendar applications. Another development is the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi buttons in the quick access menu. This update also fixes several bugs and it incorporates New Settings menu icons.
There are also improvements on the camera focus, accuracy and speed while in "Super Auto Mode". Apart from that, SmartWatch 3 (for Sony C5 and C5 Ultra) has been featured as well, which can now be used as a remote shutter butto, allowing users to take some awesome selfies or group photos. Lollipop 5.1 also added instant calendar events where users can create and share event directly from any email. The calendar agenda has been integrated into the email application for a more convenient usage.
As for the manual checking of the Android Lollipop update on Xperia C5, C5 Ultra or Huawei Honor 6, users just have to go to Settings, and then tap About Phone, choose System Update and lastly go to Check for Updates. If the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is already available for the user's device, they just have to connect to a Wi-Fi network to download the installation file. Users also have to make sure that their devices has at least 60-70% battery left to be sure that the smartphone won't shut down during the installation process.
The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop has reached the Sony Xperia C5, C5 Ultra and Huawei Honor 6, but then users of these handsets still have wait as the upgrade will go on a gradual process.
