Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Upgrade Rolled Out For Samsung Galaxy S5

By

Samsung has just released its Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA update for the Galaxy S5 device.

Recently, the entry-level Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 and the high-end Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 has received a similar update. It is now the Galaxy S5's turn to be updated with the same.

Yibada recently reported that everything is set for the release of Android 5.1.1 for Galaxy S5. The upgrade will be available for the following carriers: Sprint, Verizon Wireless, US Cellular, and AT&T. Meanwhile, it is said that this upgrade is already present for T-Mobile users.

The update will be release over-the-air (OTA), which means that users will get this update through wireless delivery from their respective mobile carriers or WiFi.

Neurogadget provided some how-tos and reminders when updating to Android 5.1.1. When the user sees a prompt for the Lollipop 5.1.1 update, they just need to connect their device to a WiFi network to download the update. The user must also make sure that the device has enough storage for the update because if the device lacks the required storage, the update installation will not be completed.

This update will bring a lot of enhancements to the S5. AndroidPIT cited some of the improvements for Verizon and T-Mobile carriers.

For S5 users who subscribed to Verizon Wireless, two improvents are the GALAXY Apps app store will be auto installed in the device and the fingerprint scanner for unlocking Microsoft Exchange accounts is now enabled.

As for the T-Mobile suscribers, there are some performance twists and bug fixes, and it will have support for RAW and lower ISO values (provided you're using a third-party camera app which uses Lollipop's camera API).

With the rollout of the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update, Samsung Galaxy S5 now has more improvements and enhancements corresponding to the wireless carrier they are subscribed to.
